Happy New Year!

December 31st, 2008

Straight up.  Times are F’d up. Jobs are scarce and security is like whatever.  401k just doesn’t have the same appeal anymore.  The idea that things can flip for the worse so quickly is an eye opener for me.  I always thought this stuff was just history and wouldn’t repeat itself.  Interesting.  Maybe, I should start burying cash in the backyard while there’s still value to the American dollar.  Credit is good for what? Buying a car?  A house?   Can’t trust in much of anything other than God, love, family, and friends.  So what now?  Live life to the fullest.  Pursue your happiness and all that good stuff.  Life is still a blessing.

The Serenity Prayer

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next.
Amen.

Back in the day…

December 30th, 2008

Back in the day…

Too cool acne boy

Too cool acne boy

  • Back when me and my singing group were suppose to be the next Boyz II Men or Jodeci.  How’s this: ” Baby, please. I know I messed up.  Take me back. Oooooh yea!”
  • Long before the big move to Boston and the live-in girlfriend.
  • Back when I was a little lighter and had a little less around the mid section. Just a little.
  • I was supposed to be like Mike.  I was this close to dunking.  Tired of just touching the rim.
  • More acne, though.  That’s bad.

I wanna see your back in the day.  I know there are some pineapple waves out there, some ridiculous bangs and teased hair, a Bobby brown gumby, and some Hammer pants.  Don’t be ashamed. And you know you have to scan it.  It was all about the film camera back then.  Kodak all day!!!

The girl/woman in the pic with me is Rakeda Lashae.  She’s a producer/documentarian.  She’s a really good friend of mine and near completion of her latest work called, X= a generation defied.  Check out the trailer it’ll break it down.  It’s definitely cool.  Or maybe you’ll call it dope, fly, hip, on, poppin, rad, or awesome.  Here’s the link. www.genxdocumentary.com.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!  Get a haircut.

Holiday Reflection

December 27th, 2008

Wanted to wish everybody the happiest of holidays. I wasn’t raised celebrating Christmas but I’ve always been more than cool with the good spirits. This is how I remember home, Springfield, MA.

Damn!

Damn!

Shovel the damn sidewalk and don’t take forever or else there’s nothing but ice at the bottom.  The good old days.  Go door to door and shovel sidewalks for a dollar until someone shorts you so you put their snow back.  Don’t let your nose run because it’ll freeze.  Watch your step or you will definitely fall on your ass and that is way less than cool.  Kiss your fingers, toes, nose, and ears goodbye.   Im convinced that snow is NOT for black folks.  All of a sudden I’m loving L.A . Happy Holidays and to all my east coasters, watch your step.
